THE COSTA BLANCA

The Costa Blanca (white coast) is one of mainland Spain's top tourist destinations. It has 200km of beautiful coastline. From Denia to Pilar de la Horadada you will find a range of multi cultural towns and traditional villages just a few km inland. The area is renowned for its long stretches of blue flag beaches, which are the best and cleanest in Europe. The breathtaking hinterland is a paradise for hikers, climbers, nature lovers and those who simply want to sample a taste of "Real Spain" The regions enviable climate attracts a year round holiday trade - average temperatures range from 16 C in winter to 32 C in summer. The Costa Blanca boasts many excellent eighteen hole golf courses, a plentiful supply of largely British run bowling greens and a huge range of water and land based sports. The northern part of the Costa Blanca is served by the airports of Valencia and Alicante while the southern part is served by Alicante and Murcia.

THE COSTA CALIDA

The Costa Calida (hot coast) has a 250km stretch of coastline bordering the province of Murcia from Pilar de la Horadada to Mazzoron. It is home to the world famous La Manga Club which boasts some of the top sports and leisure facilities to be found in any self contained tourist complex in Europe. The Costa Calida also cradles one of Spain's greatest coastal treasures - a huge natural salt water lagoon called "The Mar Menor" (little sea). The unique Mar Menor is a magnet for wildlife, water sports enthusiasts and an army of devotees who swear by the healing powers of its thermal waters and minerals. The Mar Menor is peppered by traditional Spanish villages which have been untouched by tourism. Further along the Costa Calida is Mazzoron which has proved a popular destination for ex - pat buyers in recent years due to the relatively low property prices and absence of mass market tourism. The Costa Calida is served by the airports of Alicante and San Javier (Murcia). A new international airport Corvera is due to be opened in 2009.

ALMERIA

The Costa Almeria consists of 200km of coastline. Not one of the better known Spanish resort areas although tourism has started to make an impact on a handful of villages dotted around the coast either side of the cosmopolitan city of Almeria. The Costa Almeria's few main beach resorts offer low key tourist facilities geared to families and couples rather than party people. One of the busiest tourist resorts is Mojacar, to the north east of Almeria city. The bustling beachfront is a hive of activity throughout the summer months and there are plenty of water sports, bars and restaurants. Affordable holiday homes and a proliferation of "off plan" developments have combined to bring an increasing number of ex pats to live here on a permanent basis. Costa Almeria can be served by the airports of Murcia and Almeria.
